Horrific scene as car overturns on N12

A case docket of culpable homicide has been opened after a silver Isuzu bakkie lost control and overturned on the N12.

A case docket of culpable homicide has been opened after a silver Isuzu bakkie lost control and overturned on the N12 freeway near Phola/Ogies off-ramp.

The accident happened on Wednesday, May 19.

It was alleged by an eyewitness who was also a passenger that he was with his friend Sello, who was the driver, travelling on the N12 freeway from Middelburg to Kempton Park when approaching Phola/Ogies off-ramp, he noticed the vehicle losing control and started overturning.

The accident was attended by Sgt Nomsa Nzishe and Const Mashego Mahlaba who said that upon their arrival they found a silver Isuzu bakkie overturned in the middle of the freeway and the driver trapped inside.

Later on, the driver was certified dead and the body was taken to Witbank government mortuary. The passenger was taken to Witbank Provincial Hospital with serious injuries.
