Cash-in-transit robbery – van got away this time
Suspected cash-in-transit robbers fled without a Cent.
A black Audi Q7 full of bullet holes is a silent witness of an attempted heist earlier this week.
A car that was parked approximately 1 km from Tutuni Shell garage on the R50 road towards Delmas was noticed by passing motorists on November 22.
They contacted Delmas SAPS who rushed to the scene.
“The registration number was compared with the licence disks and it was ascertained that the vehicle was hijacked in Garankuwa earlier this month,” said Captain Carla Hartley, Delmas Police spokesperson.
Captain Hartley said the vehicle was searched and cell phones, hats, gloves, and a magazine with 11 AK47 live rounds were recovered.
“Inside the vehicle, nine AK47 discharged cartridges were recovered,” Captain Hartley said.
It was established that the vehicle was used in an attempted cash-in-transit heist on the R544 close to Blinkpan recently.
