[FOLLOW UP] Suspects remain behind prison bars after being accused of murdering a policeman

The investigation team has further argued that two-state firearms and two suspects’ firearms are still outstanding including bank statements.

Three suspects believed to be involved in the murder of Sergeant Joseph Christopher Kutu again appeared in court.

On January 6, residents of Empumelelweni and surrounding areas continue to picket outside Witbank Magistrate’s Court to oppose the bail application of the suspects.

The three accused: Patricia Mabojane Kutu, Xolani Peter Ndabezitha and Vincent Bonginkosi Langa appeared before the judge.

Kutu (wife of the late Sgt Kutu) remains behind bars, awaiting bail judgment. She will appear again on January 11.

Langa abandoned his bail application and is remanded in custody whilst Ndabezitha will also abandon his bail application. Both will again appear on February 11.

Sgt Katu was killed in his home in July 2021. He was part of the SAPS Witbank Tactical Response Team at that stage.
