Unarmed policeman shot while off duty
Two men were arrested after a policeman from Phola was shot.
A police official was shot and wounded while off duty.
On Sunday, February 27 the constable from Phola Police Station was found wounded in a shop at Wilge which is a few kilometers outside Phola.
The policeman went with his friend to the local tuckshop. He was unarmed when he was allegedly attacked by a security guard. The reasons and motive for the shooting are still unclear.
The unnamed friend drove the injured policeman to the nearest hospital. He was later transferred to a hospital in Johannesburg for further medical attention.
Two men were arrested in connection to this case and are expected to appear before the Ogies Magistrate’s Court on Tuesday, March 1.
Phola SAPS station commander, Lieutenant Colonel Nape Matlala urged community members who have more information regarding the incident to come forward by calling the station on 013 643 8601.
