A wild cat with two cubs has been seen in the vicinity of Hlalanikahle, eMalahleni

Be cautious of the wild cat!

A resident of Hlalanikahle reported to the police this morning that he spotted something that might have been a leopard or cheetah.

The police set out to search for the animal and confirmed seeing the ‘cat’ at around 09:00, but they were unsure what exactly it was.

They were waiting for the Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (SPCA) to arrive at where the animal was last seen.

Upon arrival, members of the SPCA confirmed that it is a wild cat and also saw that there are two cubs with her.

Residents in Hlalanikahle are being advised by the police to avoid the area around Jeremiah Mdaka and the stream as the wild cat is more dangerous as she is protecting her cubs.

“We advise people and especially kids not to approach or attack the animal,” said police.
