Mamelodi Sundowns ladies still lead despite a second defeat

eMalahleni-based team Coal City Wizards played a 1-1 draw with Durban Ladies.

Mamelodi Sundowns suffered their second defeat of the season when they were shocked 1-0 by their Tshwane rivals TUT in the Hollywoodbets Super League fixture. JVW couldn’t close the gap after dropping points in a 0-0 stalemate against UWC.

TUT is now level on points with second-placed JVW, although the former has two games in hand.

Elsewhere, Vasco da Gama recorded their fourth win of the campaign when they thrashed Golden Ladies 4-1 to kick away from the relegation zone.

JVW and TUT are undoubtedly the best teams in the league, behind log leaders Mamelodi Sundowns, and it is only right that the two squads are still in the running for the title.

Sundowns ladies remain overwhelming favourites to defend their crown, but this time around, JVW as well as their opponents, TUT have an opportunity to clinch this momentous feat.

The defending champions will look to bounce back to winning ways when they welcome the Thunderbirds on Wednesday, September 28.
