Sword and Spirit Super kids’ fun run to raise funds
Children from the Sword and Spirit Ministries International participated in a 5km fun walk.
The Sword and Spirit Ministries International hosted a 5km fun run for children that took place between Total Garage and Witbank Dam.
The fun walk had multiple purposes including fun (of course) and was used to encourage young children to exercise and stay active with outdoor activities.
The children were excited as this was also an opportunity to fundraise for the Super Kids’ camp which will be taking place during the end-of-year school holidays.
The children who were allowed to participate in the fun walk/run were between the ages of five and 12 years old.
The Super Kids were supported by parents and family friends from various parts of eMalahleni. On Saturday, October 8, the walk started at 06:00 to accommodate the extreme temperatures.
All the participants were provided with fruit and water to keep them hydrated, and a resident physiotherapist, Mangazile Lukhele was present to ensure the children had stretched adequately and didn’t strain themselves.
Mrs Zondo also extended a word of thanks to their physiologist, Amina Moikambo for being there to see that the kids were mentally fit to walk and run a long distance.
It was an exciting time for the children who sang and danced while they walked. They enjoyed spending the morning with friends and family, while also getting some well-needed exercise.
“We would like to thank the Emalahleni Traffic Department for their support in escorting the little ones on the road and keeping us all safe during the walk. We would also like to thank all the parents for bringing their children and encouraging them to engage in activities that enhance their health and wellbeing,” Boitumelo Zondo, Super Kids coordinator said.
