Manhunt for three highly dangerous cash-in-transit robbers launched

Provincial Commissioner of Police in Limpopo, Lieutenant General Thembi Hadebe has ordered a full-scale manhunt.

Three suspects have escaped police custody while being transported from Groblersdal to Witbank Prison.

The incident occurred on Wednesday, January 25 at 11:00.

The three suspects, aged between 20 and 40, appeared in the Groblersdal Magistrate’s Court on January 24 and were transported to prison with three other prisoners when the three assailants escaped next to Moutse Mall in the Dennilton policing area.

The three escapees appeared on charges of murder, rape, armed robberies, cash-in-transit heists, and possession of unlicensed firearms and ammunition.

A case of escaping lawful custody has been opened and investigations are continuing.

The public should take note that the suspects are considered dangerous and people are cautioned not to approach the escapees, but rather contact the police immediately.

Anyone with information may contact Lieutenant Colonel Richard Boshomane on 079 894 5501 or the crime stop number at 086 001 0111 or use the MySAPSApp and send a message.

The suspects have been identified as Michael Masimula, Mahlatse Matebane, and Lovemore Moshui.

The circumstances of their escape are still being investigated.
