Mpumalanga Football Academy taught a soccer lesson

Mpumalanga Football Academy came with all their ammunition to Lynnville Stadium to beat Middelburg United.

But they went home empty-handed and were beaten 3-0 by Middelburg United on Saturday, February 4.

It was a pleasure to watch both teams showing their football skills.

United player Thabo Xaba had his corner kick stopped by Academy goalkeeper Sanele Masepula.

Thulani Kgaria from United failed to do the easy thing, but make it hard for himself when his shot was blocked.

United had a break attack, but Thatho Mmotong shot wide.

Academy trying to find a way to attack made a substitute and brought in Ntiwane Muzi for Madoda.

United created scoring chances while Academy was forced to defend.

United Kgaria crossed a ball, but the shot went wide with no one to connect into a goal.

The Academy trio of Lunga Zikade, Lapson Nkosi and Ntiwane were very fast when on the attack, but they were stopped in their tracks by the always-alert United defence.

At half-time, the score was 0-0.

In the second half, both teams made some substitutes to beef up their attack and United were rewarded when they scored after a corner kick to make it 1-0.

Academy forward Nkosi had an opportunity to equalise when his shot failed to find the target.

Academy’s Ntoampe Kgotso was yellow-carded for rough play. United made things easy for themselves when they created scoring opportunities and Hector Tshabangu had a wide shot trying to score.

United defender Mxolisi Jiyane saved a sure goal with his brilliant defending.

Academy forward Zikade created and tried his best, but his best was not enough for his team.

Academy had a place-kick in the danger zone, but they failed to capitalise when the United goalkeeper Sizwe Rabothatha saved a bouncing ball.

United’s Tshabangu scored his team’s second goal after a cross from the left and they added another goal after a place-kick to put the steam out of Academy.

Academy’s Ntiwane missed with a header towards the end of the match, but the scoreboard remained 3-0 and United took the three full points back home to Middelburg.
