Witbank SPCA gives tips on how to keep pets warms

Carika said that if heaters and fireplaces are used, you must ensure the safety of the animals comes first.

Carika Roux, committee member of Witbank SPCA said that pets owners must ensure that proper shelter/kennels with warm blankets are provided to animals that can not be indoors away from the cold.

“We beg and plead residents to not chain and keep animals exposed to this extremely cold weather, if you are cold, they are too,” Carika emphasised.

She advised that pets must wear jackets where possible, especially the small and older dogs, padded beds, warm blankets, warm water bottles wrapped in a blanket are mostly recommended for cats.
