Firearm owner facing charges including attempted murder
Local resident facing multiple charges after discharging his weapon in a crowded area.

A firearm owner has landed himself in hot water after an incident that took place at a local shopping centre on Walter Sisulu Street in the Central Business District.
On Saturday, September 30 a man and another passenger were seated in his vehicle in the parking lot of the shopping centre when reports state that the inebriated male took out his firearm, pointing it at bystanders.
Upon doing so, the men were approached by members of the public to try and talk some sense into the gun-wielding man.
The gun owner then proceeded to open fire, shooting his firearm in various directions.
The shooter was subdued by members of the public.
One bystander who witnessed members of the public running from the scene of the shooting reported being told by the public to run as it was not safe and that a man was shooting a gun close by.
The victim reported that he suddenly heard something hit his leg and fell to the ground.
The victim then noticed that he had been hit by a stray bullet in the leg.
Investigations concluded that the suspect owned a valid firearm license and that the firearm had been registered in his name.
The gun owner will be facing charges ranging from attempted murder, weapon discharge in a municipal area, and operating a firearm under the influence.
Police spokesperson, Captain Eddie Hall said that this should serve as a warning to all gun owners to take precautions when carrying a firearm, and using a firearm whilst under the influence is never a good idea.
