Man dies in accident on R545 near Rietspruit

Paramedics tried their best to save the man's life.

Another name is written in blood on the R545 near Rietspruit.

A 47-year-old died in an accident on Sunday, December 3. The man’s bakkie and a truck were involved in the accident.

Percival Motloung from PEMS Emergency Services Qulu was trapped in his bakkie.
“We tried our best, but unfortunately the man passed on,” Motloung said.

This accident comes shortly after the Mpumalanga MEC for Community Safety, Security, and Liaison, Vusi Shongwe launched this year’s Festive Season Road Safety Campaign on November 30.

The MEC used the launch to outline plans to minimise road crashes associated with increased movement of people on the road.

“The plans are not only to ensure smooth transportation of people and goods but to also curb lawless, reckless, and negligent driving, which often leads to deadly crashes and needless loss of lives,” Moeti Mmusi spokesperson from the Community Safety, Security and Liaison Department said.

The man is kept anonymous as he has not been formally identified yet.
