Taxi fares to increase by R2 from tomorrow

LOTA warns taxi operators not to overcharge.

The Local Taxi Association (LOTA) has announced a R2 and increase in taxi fares. Effective Thursday, August 1, this move comes almost a year after the last fare increase in September last year.

Rising costs to blame

According to LOTA, the decision to hike prices was made necessary by the rising costs associated with running a taxi business.

The association has warned taxi operators against overcharging or undercharging passengers, threatening disciplinary action for non-compliance.

To ensure passengers are not taken advantage of, LOTA has released an official price list. Communities are urged to check the official price list to ensure they are charged correctly.

The fare increase will affect all routes.
