Karien vs Abram in Ward 24 by-election

Two parties are running in the by-election in Ward 24 in eMalahleni on Wednesday, October 23.

The anticipation is building up in preparing the by-election for Ward 24.

This ward has 6 396 registered voters. The ward became vacant after the councillor resigned.

Only two parties, the DA and the ANC are contenders in this election.

DA candidate Karien Mc Diarmid has been a resident of Modelpark for the past 26 years.

She has been involved in several community projects. Karien has a degree in political science.

ANC candidate Abram Seun Maphosho, is the ordained bishop under the denomination – Pentecostal Church of God. He’s currently pastoring two church branches in eMalahleni.

He is a registered Environmental Assessment Practitioner; he studied Environmental Management and obtained a national diploma.

Maphosho has been residing in Ward 24 for 18 years and participate in numerous leadership positions including the chairperson of the Uniting Forum.

Voting stations are at WH de Klerk School, Tshwane University of Technology, Laerskool Taalfees, and CTC.

  • You can cast your vote between 07:00 and 21:00.
  • Special voting will take place at voting stations as well as through home visits on October 22 between 08:00 and 17:00.
  • Voters are reminded that they can only vote if they have a green, barcoded ID book; smartcard ID, or a valid temporary identity certificate.
