Local teen transforms her dreams into runway reality

Nomthandazo acknowledges the challenges in the modelling industry and hopes to be remembered as someone who embodied self-love and resilience.

Local teenager, Mazachja Nomthandazo Sithole (19), breaks barriers and makes a name for herself in the modelling industry.

This talented young girl from eMalahleni is determined to inspire others with her story.

Nomthandazo’s journey into modelling began in 2021, inspired by the late Kayise Mashiane’s dancing.

Despite never participating in pageants, she found solace in modelling, citing financial constraints as a significant obstacle.

“I started modelling in 2021, and my first photoshoot was with Gabhadiya. Pageants are expensive, and it’s not fair on other kids from different backgrounds,” Nomthandazo said.

Her path hasn’t been without its challenges. She recalls forgetting her introduction speech at a pageant and feeling insecure about her body.

“I had low self-esteem, but modelling helped me overcome that. My experience at the Miss Teen Diligent Mpumalanga pageant in 2021 was particularly memorable. I was scared; I cried at the event, but I became the first runner-up,” she said.

Nomthandazo emphasises humility, respect, and self-love.

“Be humble and respect everyone; you never know who might help you tomorrow,” added Nomthandazo.

For her, modelling transcends physical appearance. She also acknowledges the challenges in the modelling industry and hopes to be remembered as someone who embodied self-love and resilience.

“I want to show others that regardless of scars, insecurities, or background, you can achieve your dreams,” she concluded.
