Disabilities are not barriers
The It Takes NPO event was a component of a broader campaign that showcased the concurrent celebrations in Kriel at several sites within the farms of Thubelihle and Rietspruit.
It Takes NPO made history in Ga-Nala by celebrating the International Day of Persons with Disabilities at Ga-Nala Municipal Park.
This momentous event was part of a larger initiative, with simultaneous celebrations held in Kriel at different locations within Thubelihle, Rietspruit, and Kriel farms.
This event took place on November 29.
The celebration emphasised the importance of recognising and honoring individuals with disabilities, promoting employment opportunities, and holding disability inclusion and accessibility workshops.
The disabled community raised concerns about inadequate healthcare services, inaccessible public transportation, and employment opportunities.
Local dignitaries attended the event, including Clr Conrad Conradie, community women’s spokesperson Bonisiwe Zulu, municipal spokesperson Bekumusa Mahlalela, and King Inkosi Ndabezitha Mahlangu.
The event was made possible by generous sponsors. Yvonne Mofoleng-Tsumane, the owner of It Takes, concluded and said, “We are grateful for the support of our sponsors and the community. We will continue to advocate for the rights and empowerment of individuals with disabilities.”
