A contractor was injured and rushed to hospital after a mini substation he was working on exploded.

The loud bangs from the mini substation in Leeu Street in Reyno Ridge could be heard a distance away.

The contracting company owner said he would issue a formal report as soon as he had all the details.

Clr Kim Fourie is on the scene keeping an eye on the situation as this affects houses that were left without electricity.
