Witbank dam level reaches 96.6% capacity
Motorists are advised to exercise caution when driving on the N4 highway as heavy rainfall is resulting in significant water accumulation on the road.
The Witbank Dam level has reached an impressive 96.6% capacity, due to the recent rainfall in the area.
According to the reports, today (January 7), the dam received 18mm of rainfall, contributing to the significant increase in water levels.
Motorists are advised to exercise caution when driving on the N4 highway between eMalahleni and Middelburg.
Heavy rainfall as resulted in significant water accumulation on the road, creating hazardous driving conditions.
To manage the rising dam level, there is a scheduled controlled water release from the Witbank Dam.
One sluice gate was opened to 300mm, releasing 21 cubic meter per second. This measure aims to maintain a safe and stable water level in the dam.
