Mayor inspires young minds at Empucukweni Secondary School

The executive mayor’s visit aimed to inspire and motivate learners, particularly those starting Grade 8 and matriculants

Emalahleni Executive Mayor Clr Vusi Nhlapho kicked off the new school year with a motivational visit to Empucukweni Secondary School.

The visit took place on Wednesday, January 15.

The visit aimed to inspire and motivate learners, particularly those starting Grade 8 and matriculants.

The Emalahleni Local Municipality team.

The executive mayor shared his journey, which began at the school in 1993, to encourage learners to set their goals high and work towards achieving them.

“I want to encourage you to strive for excellence and never give up on your dreams. Remember, your success is not just about you, but about your family, community, and society,” said the executive mayor.

He also emphasised the importance of support from teachers, parents, and guardians.

He announced that he would mentor three learners throughout the year.

The executive mayor congratulates the school on achieving a remarkable 98.9% pass rate and encourages learners to strive for excellence.

“To the matric class of 2025, I urge you to remain disciplined, committed, and resilient; great results are achieved by hard work and determination. I wish you all the best of luck for the academic year ahead,” he concluded.
