Emalahleni Local Municipality achieves major milestone with unqualified audit outcome.
The Emalahleni Local Municipality (ELM) has secured an unqualified audit outcome for the financial year 2023/2024.
This comes after the municipality had received qualified audits for more than five consecutive years.
The Auditor-General (AG) has awarded the ELM an unqualified audit report for its financial performance.
Mr Sizwe Buthelezi, the AG, handed the report over to Executive Mayor Clr Vusi Nhlapho and Municipal Manager Mr Sizwe Mayisela at the full council meeting today (January 30).
The outcome was well received by the council after the AG’s presentation.
The AG presented the audit assessment, noting the progress made and emphasising the need for continuous improvement to achieve clean administration.
Key recommendations were provided, and the municipality is committed to implementing them.
The mayor acknowledged this achievement, expressing gratitude to councillors and administration officials for their dedication and teamwork.
He emphasised that this milestone calls for celebration while reaffirming the municipality’s determination to work towards a clean audit shortly.
