Long-time eMalahleni resident passes away

Mike’s funeral is taking place on Monday, March 24 at 12:00 at the St Margaret’s Anglican Church.

It is with great sadness that it is announced that Michael Graham Jones also known as Mike passed away last week.

Mike passed away peacefully with loved ones around him on March 15.

Mike has called eMalahleni his home since 1985, and he has been a member of St Margaret’s Anglican Church for over 40 years.

“My dad was a kind, caring and lovable person. And we will miss him dearly,” said his daughter, Lisa Pretorius.

Mike worked for Eastvaal Ford, Perm, Nedbank, Old Mutual and later became an independent broker for Lesmick Insurance Brokers.

In his youth, he was very sporty and played provincial cricket for Free State, Griquas, and Northern Transvaal Country Districts.

Mike also played provincial hockey for Free State and Griquas as a goalkeeper.

On the football field, he was a force to be reckoned with and he also played provincials for Griquas. He was often seen on the golf course.

Mike leaves his wife, Lesley, daughters Lisa Pretorius and Tamlyn Hulley, and four grandchildren Jayden, Charnelle, Courtney, and Jaryde behind.

No flowers but donation in lieu to the church will be appreciated.
