eMalahleni Home Affairs to open this weekend to render service to the public

The eMalahleni Home Affairs offices will be open this weekend, Saturday and Sunday, from 08:30 to 13:00 to assist community members with their applications and document needs.

This special weekend session is a one-time effort to clear the backlog of applications and provide essential services to residents after they were affected by the office’s closure earlier this week.

The office was closed due to ongoing speculations of unsafe working conditions for staff members.

Learners qualifying for ID, and public members will be assisted and are encouraged to take advantage of this opportunity to apply for documents, renew passports, and access other essential services.

The office will return to its regular weekday hours after this weekend.

The following services will be rendered:

· Birth registration within 30 days.

· Application for smart ID cards:

1. First applications.

2. Replacement of green barcoded IDs.

3. Reissue of lost IDs.

4· Collection of smart ID cards.

The opening times are:

· Saturday (April 12): 08:30 – 13:00

· Sunday (April 13): 08:30 – 13:00
