DA submits motion of no confidence against Speaker Mduduzi ‘Mswati’ Nkosi

The DA has taken a stand against Speaker Mduduzi ‘Mswati’ Nkosi’s alleged misconduct

This morning the DA councillors submitted a motion of no confidence against the Speaker of Emalahleni Local Municipality, Mduduzi ‘Mswati’ Nkosi.
The motion was made in light of ongoing complaints, allegations of misconduct, and the Speaker’s alleged failure to effectively carry out his duties as he is expected to.

Among their grounds for motion, the party mentioned: Failure to properly investigate complaints, bias and unilateral decision-making, disruption of community meetings, failure to address public grievances, and failure to take action against criminally accused councillors.

“The Speaker has not only undermined the rules of Council, he has broken the trust of the people of eMalahleni,” Clr Maureen Scheepers from the DA said.

The councillors explained that the DA believes in accountability, good governance, and the rule of law, which they say is what motivated their decision to call for a Special Council Sitting and a secret ballot, to ensure councillors can vote according to conscience, without fear or intimidation.
