Christmas approaches with no answers in Tshepo Motsiye’s disappearance
Have you seen Tshepo Motsiye?
As Christmas approaches, the family of 45-year-old Tshepo Motsiye remains in limbo, with no news, no progress, and no sign of the man who disappeared more than six months ago near Clewer.
While others prepare for the festive season, his partner, Lukie Matshia, faces another painful reminder that Tshepo is still missing.
He was last seen on June 13, telling Lukie he was heading to Vosman Circle. Days later, a man claimed he had been trapped underground with Tshepo and another man in the abandoned Greenside Colliery mine shaft, but he disappeared before rescuers could confirm the story.
Since then, every lead has dissolved into silence.

Search efforts by Vosman Police and Thungela Resources have repeatedly been halted due to toxic gas and unstable underground conditions. Food and water were initially lowered into the shaft, but no response was ever received, and to this day, there are still no answers.
“For months, there’s been nothing,” Lukie said. Her plea remains simple,“Please don’t forget us. We need answers; we need closure.”
