Emalahleni Municipality sets official fireworks zones for New Year celebrations

Using fireworks in residential areas creates significant danger and is therefore strictly prohibited.

The Emalahleni Municipality has released an official notice regarding fireworks for the upcoming New Year celebrations.

Residents are strictly warned that no fireworks may be set off in residential areas.

The municipality has identified 15 designated areas where fireworks can be safely discharged:

· Lynnville Tennis Court
· Open field next to Sy Mthimunye Stadium
· Empumelelweni Sports Ground
· Extension 14 near Emsagweni Outline Sports Ground
· Likazi Playground (Old Coronation)

· Ogies Soccer Field next to the council chamber
· Thubelihle Soccer Field

· Ga-Nala Rugby Field
· Extensions 14 and 11 open fields
· Pine Ridge Stadium
· Rietspruit open space next to the hall
· Klarinet Extensions 3 and 5 Sports Ground
· Schoongezicht Sports Ground (Overline)
· Siyanqoba open field

Fireworks will only be allowed on December 31 from 00:00 until 01:00 on January 1, 2026.

The municipality emphasises that the burning of fireworks outside of the indicated times and areas is prohibited.

Residents are urged to celebrate safely and comply with the designated zones to prevent accidents, fires, and injuries during the festive season.
