Pedestrian dies after being hit by vehicle on N4 on New Year’s day
Emergency personnel pronounced him dead at the scene.
A pedestrian died after being hit by a vehicle on the N4 Freeway just hours after New Year’s eve celebrations.
Police reported that the victim, wearing blue jeans and a white jacket, was struck by a white bakkie at approximately 07:00.

A fatal accident has been reported on the N4 near the Mathews Phosa off-ramp. Emergency services are on the scene, and traffic is affected. Motorists are urged to proceed with caution

According to police, the driver was traveling from eMalahleni toward Pretoria when he saw the pedestrian crossing the freeway.
The driver attempted to avoid the collision by swerving, but the pedestrian ran into the path of the vehicle.
Preliminary investigations suggest the deceased had attended New Year’s eve celebrations event prior to the accident.
