Eskom urges public to avoid speculation amid tragic shooting of staff in Rietspruit

The Witbank SAPS is currently investigating the case, and it is still at an early stage.

Eskom has called on the public to refrain from spreading unverified claims following a tragic incident involving two of its employees.

The man was fatally shot, while his wife sustained a gunshot wound but survived.

The incident happened on January 21, at corner R547 and D455 Road in Rietspruit.

SAPS has confirmed that investigations are underway, but the case remains at an early stage.

Eskom emphasised that it is both premature and irresponsible to make definitive claims or accusations while law enforcement is still gathering facts.

According to the police, upon arrival at the scene, they found the man, who was the driver, deceased and the wife, who survived was rushed to the hospital immediately.

As the police investigation continues, anyone with information that may help the police in solving the case is urged to contact the Witbank SAPS at 079 891 5570.

Police further assured the community that all information received will be treated with the strictest confidentiality.
