DCSSL reassures motorists over licensing documents in Witbank
Footage captured by WItbank News showed piles of application forms left unattended after licensing services moved to a different location.
The Department of Community Safety, Security and Liaison (DCSSL) has issued a statement assuring motorists that unsecured licensing documents found by Witbank News yesterday (August 27) were in the process of being processed and moved.
Following the publication of videos and photos captured Witbank News, DCSSL spokesperson Moeti Mmusi said in a media statement that the department wants to reassure the public that their documents are safe.

Documents left unattended in office corner
A journalist found bags of licensing documents, including driver’s licence applications, packed into a corner in an office adjacent to where staff were issuing licences.
“Regarding the images seen online, at the time they were taken, officials were in the process of moving and arranging all the documents,” said Mmusi.
According to the journalist, however, the only personnel in sight at the time were the security guards who tried to prevent the publication from capturing footage and images.

Labour department closure forces move
Mmusi explained that the documents and uncollected driving licences had to be moved from the Witbank Driver’s License Testing Centre (DLTC) to the Piet Koornhof Building following the DLTC’s closure by the Department of Labour due to health and safety concerns.
“This interim measure has been implemented to ensure that members of the public who have applied for driving licences can continue to be assisted and that licensing services continue to be rendered,” he said. “Should there be any breach in this regard, the DCSSL will move swiftly to address it.”
Witbank News enquired where the documents will be moved to and how they will be filed. By the time of publication, no response had been received.
