HTS unites primary schools and alumni at annual sport festival

Teams from local primary schools competed in netball, rugby and hockey before enjoying exhibition rugby matches.

HTS hosted its annual sport marketing event on October 9 and 10, showcasing the school and its sporting activities to the community of eMalahleni.

According to head of marketing Mudene Conradie, the event brings together local primary schools to compete in a variety of sporting codes.

“Every year we bring different schools to not only play against each other, but also to get them to see our school environment just in case they’re still trying to decide which high school to join,” Conradie said.

Schools compete across sporting codes

The programme started with netball on October 9.

Later that day, the HTS Old Boys and Witbank Old Boys faced each other on the cricket field.

The primary schools competition continued the next day on the rugby and hockey fields.

“We gave out player of the match trophies for every school, then we also had an overall winner of the rugby, one for netball, and also one for hockey,” Conradie said.
