Protests on the R545 at Phola entrance near Wilge

Sergeant Ntuli outlined that police were summoned for both events and managed to calm the situation down with the help of the Public Order Policing.

Residents went on a protest at Phola near the entrance at the traffic lights, burning tyres and closing the road on the R545 and at the Seriti Extension mine.

Allegedly, they wanted to intrude on the land situated on the other side of the R545, but they were chased away by the mine’s security guards.

Consequently, another activity simultaneously took place at Seriti Extension mine near Wilge where protesters were fighting for employment on Wednesday, January 11.

Sergeant Thabang Petros Ntuli, Phola Communications Official Police outlined that they were summoned for both events and managed to calm the situation down with the help of the Public Order Policing (POP).
