Tasbetpark learners empowered to stand against bullying and make positive choices
Laerskool Tasbetpark learners took a stand against bullying, learning that speaking up, showing kindness, and making positive choices can help create a safer school for everyone.
Safety, respect, and courage took centre stage at Laerskool Tasbetpark, as learners were empowered to make positive choices, stand against bullying, and help build a school community where everyone feels safe, valued, and heard.
On 21 August, Laerskool Tasbetpark hosted an anti-bullying campaign aimed at empowering learners with knowledge about bullying and substance abuse, their impact, prevention, and the importance of speaking up.
Learners had the opportunity to participate in insightful presentations by representatives from SAPS, SANCA, and CMR, who shared valuable information and practical guidance on recognising harmful behaviour, making responsible choices and seeking help when necessary.
The school’s focus on safety continued on 25 August, when its Grade 1 learners welcomed Warrant Officer David Ratau as part of the Adopt-a-Cop Programme.
The visit provided the learners with an opportunity to engage with a member of SAPS in a positive and educational setting. Ratau spoke to the children about staying safe, respecting others, making good choices and listening to trusted adults.
He also explained the important role police officers play in protecting and assisting children, helping learners develop a positive understanding of SAPS and the support available to them.
“It is important for children to know that they are not alone and that they can speak to a trusted adult when they feel unsafe or when something is wrong,” Ratau said.
