WATER pushing up from under the ground into Nishaan Suredin’s pool at his home in Verwoerd park, near Laerskool President Steyn, has been a problem for the last couple of months.
It all began from the time he wanted to change the look of his pool and the contractor he had appointed for the job had noticed a crack at the bottom section of the pool after draining it. The contractor had attempted to pump out the water – which he did for three days. Three weeks from then, after stopping pumping, water already filled up to about half way (approximately 18 000 litres).
After being in contact with the municipality, a service provider maintenance representative appointed by them had taken a look at the condition of the pool and explained, “Because of the water being in my yard, it is not their problem,” said Nishaan.
The municipality informed him that a leak detection company should be appointed for the job, which cost him R1 000. Meter checks were done and no leaks were identified on the property. They checked the premises but could not identify where the leak was coming from. The testing however did reveal chlorine in the water.
Nishaan has to drain his pool once a week, which has to be directed towards the road. He does not want to upset anyone but is looking for a solution to the matter. If anyone is experiencing the same or similar problems in the area, contact him on 082 574 2842 or e-mail suredinn@gmail.com
