Where are the dumping sites?
Jan Noppe, a Bassonia resident who works in Alberton for a plant hire company, is concerned about having no dumping sites in the area.

Alberton – Jan Noppe explained on September 8 that a dumping site in Thokoza is closed and every dumping site along the route of Swartkoppies Road headed towards Eikenhof is closed or non-existent. “We have no dumping sites for our rubble,” he said.
Jan asked what is the alternative space or place is where people can dump their refuse.
EMM (Ekurhuleni Metropolitan Municipality) responded:
There is no dumping site in Thokoza. If dumping is taking place in Thokoza, it is illegal and should thus not continue.
The Ekurhuleni Metropolitan Municipality is not aware of any dumping sites on Swartkoppies Road either, and any dumping taking place on Swartkoppies Road is illegal. There is, however, a dumping site somewhere in the Kibler Park area, which falls under the City of Joburg.
If this company is in Alberton, refuse removal services are available via our 240l refuse services on a weekly basis. If the company has large amounts of refuse that need to be dumped, they should utilise one of the Metro’s landfill sites, which are Rooikraal in Boksburg and Platkop, which is in the Suikerbosrand area. We do have a waste transfer station on Heidelberg Road in Alberton, which can accommodate small amounts of waste.
Alternatively they should contact the Alberton Waste Management Services depot on 011 999 2600 to arrange for refuse bins.
