Figures Alberton models strut their stuff at nationals

Figures Models Alberton National Model of the Year 2021 announced.

The Figures International Models and Talent Agency franchise recently held their annual National Model of the Year Competition at the Roodepoort Youth Theatre.

In total, 650 contestants from 17 branches competed in the various age categories that were divided into fashion, skill and commercial divisions.

Figures Models Alberton entered 60 students and they achieved several podium places.

The prize up for grabs was an all-expenses-paid cruise aboard the MSC Orchestra in March this year where they will be exposed to both local and international talent scout agents in the hopes of securing a modelling contract.

Figures Models Alberton’s achievements at the competition were as follows:

• Ariana van Staden won the skills category for girls ages two to six years. She has won in this division for the last three years.

• Ziane van Staden was the second runner-up for the commercial category for girls seven to nine years.

• Gabriella Ramalho walked away with a first runner-up title in the skills category for girls 13 to 15 years.

• In the skills category for girls seven to nine years, Chantelle Smit was the second runner-up.

• Teacher’s first runner-up was Tieghan Griffin-Coetzer.

• Shannon French was the winner of the skills category for girls 16 years and older.

• Matthew Barkowitz was the first runner-up for boys in two to 12 years.

• Kelly Welthagen was the overall debutant winner.

“At Figures, we strive to build self-confidence and self-esteem in all our youngsters,” said teacher Emma Griffin Coetzer.
