City responds to municipal working hours

The City of Ekurhuleni has responded to a concern regarding its working hours.

I was told by a person who is working a lot with the municipality that the municipality staff is still working only 50% of their usual time because of Covid-19 with full salaries.

Also, when the building is being sanitised weekly and they work only half a day that day.

City of Ekurhuleni spokesperson Zweli Dlamini said its employees are working at full capacity and recalled employees who used to work from home.

“During the day of sanitisation, which is for the safety of employees, the health requirements are that employees and members of the public must vacate the buildings. This is to allow for the chemicals used to settle and avoid any health reaction from the sanitisation process,” he said.

He reiterated that non-sanitisation will also put the health and safety of employees and the public at large at risk against Covid-19.
