Parents from Mulbarton Primary School are requested to note that if their children have a cellphone, tablet or laptop to check these devices regularly.
Teachers have found that some children are smart enough to download, open or create Facebook, Instagram or WhatsApp.
“Some children are posting derogatory or unsavoury photos and comments on these social media platforms. This is unacceptable and also illegal and defamatory, furthermore, it goes against the Popi Act.
“Parents can use an app called Family Link that can be downloaded free of charge from the Google Play Store. This app assists a parent to control and monitor the apps that their child uses, usage times, and age restrictions,” said the principal’s desk.
The parents’ evening will take place on September 29 from 17:00 to 19:00.
Grade R to Grade Three parents may go directly to their child’s class to collect the reports. Parents of Grade Four to Grade Seven learners must first collect reports from the hall and then proceed to the respective educators’ classrooms.
September 30 is the last day of term three. The school will dismiss at 11:00. Parents are asked to make the necessary transport arrangements for their children. The school re-opens on October 11.
