Alberton’s Thabiso changes his life for the better
After using drugs for a long time, Alberton's Thabiso Maralo managed to work on himself and wants to change the lives of other users and make the community a safe space.
I, Thabiso Julius Maralo, would be honoured if I could get an opportunity to show gratitude and utmost respect to my superiors and the elders in charge.
I am writing this letter concerning being accepted as part of the community development committee, I would also love to be part of the ideas and opinions made to bring change and uplift the youth and the community of Alberton.
I would like to state out of all honesty that I, as part of the youth of this well-respected community, have done wrong things such as taking substances (drugs) which are not good for anyone and I am not justifying any of my actions.
I feel it would be best if I take action and responsibility and try to bring change in the community and help others who are involved or also suffering from the same thing that is very addictive.
Being exposed to the City of Gold (Johannesburg) after coming from a township characterised by a lack of resources in Port Elizabeth (Gqebera), I’ve learned a lot of things that would take me a long time to list or mention.
If I may say being part of this community for almost 10 years, I am blessed and humbled for coming across different people who had a positive impact on my life. I’m grateful for everything they have taught me.
Now I would like to request the superiors that are in charge, to give me and the rest of the youth a chance to show and exchange the different skills that we have and use this to bring change to this beautiful community we live in.
I believe that if we unite and work together, we can achieve a lot. I promise that I will dedicate and devote myself to bringing change.
I would also like to ask everyone to work together to bring change to our lives and our community.
I believe that if we all are united, we can do great things. Unity is power.
Thank you.
Thabiso TJ Maralo
