Elandshaven community cleans up servitudes

Community members joined hands in cleaning the servitudes and fields in Elandshaven on December 17.

The clean-up which saw at least 20 to 30 take part, included litter picking, grass cutting, bush trimming and a pavement clean-up in the servitude in Algoa Bay Street, servitudes in Sandwich Bay Street as well as in Pretorius Street.

Concerned residents cleared big open fields to clean the pavement of overgrown grass and overgrown bushes.

“We had about 20 to 30 volunteers intermittently, African Sun Garden Services also assisted us by providing their services at cost.”

“The owner of Cross Fit Alberton North who is also a resident of Elandshaven also assisted by using their Chev Utility Bakkie to help with dumping the excess refuse. And a few community members that could not assist with volunteering helped out by bringing us lunch and cold drinks,” said Joeleen Smit of Ward 37.
