Mayberry Park residents fill potholes
Mayberry Park’s Wilton Combrink says they want to preach the gospel of taking the initiative and doing things yourself.
After seeing a great need to fill potholes in their street, a few Mayberry Park residents spent their day filling several potholes on March 8.
Spearheaded by Wilton Combrink, the pothole filling project saw locals work together to repair potholes in Njala Street and on the corner of Tolbos Street.
They filled at least 35 potholes during their project.
Wilton Combrink from Bracken Auto Clinic who facilitated the pothole project said, “The main reason I did this was that I have a low car and the potholes make it difficult to drive around. I then informed the community and announced this on a WhatsApp group chat. About five people offered to assist.”
He reiterated that everything was sponsored – from the material used on the day to workmanship.
“Stoffel Badenhorst gave cement, Joe Potgieter from Jomari Plumbing gave sand cement and a helper and Henry Billson from Metsing Signs gave cement and three helpers. Elria Billson from Ella’s Pantry gave cupcakes and cooldrink, Belusi Xaba gave sand, cement and a helper. John Masoga gave a helper,” he said.
