Alberton SAPS officer reaches greater heights

Members of Alberton SAPS are bidding farewell to one of their seasoned officers, recently appointed to a new rank.

Outgoing Alberton SAPS officer Colonel Simpe Makopo officially took up his new rank on September 11 after serving as lieutenant colonel for over eight years.

After being in the force for at least three decades, the seasoned and dedicated officer has been SAPS Vispol commander at the Alberton station since January 2021.

Makopo started his policing career at Primrose SAPS as a constable, serving the public there from 1992 until 2003.
He tirelessly worked his way up from constable to the rank of captain, with a commitment to putting the public first and going above the call of duty.

Thereafter, he was at Bedfordview SAPS for close to a decade and his wealth of experience saw him climb to higher ranks.

Makopo joined the Germiston Cluster as Lieutenant Colonel before joining the Alberton SAPS family in 2021.

“I would like to thank all my colleagues and all the divisions I worked with since I joined the police station. I extend my gratitude to the community for their support over the recent years,” he said.

Following his appointment to the new rank, they have appointed him to serve at Brakpan SAPS as Vispol commander. He will leave the Alberton station for his new position in the next few weeks.
