Ekurhuleni urges owners to collect impounded vehicles

If the EMPD impounded your vehicle, you must collect it by July 12.

Ekurhuleni requests that owners of vehicles impounded by the EMPD before December 31, 2023, retrieve them by July 12 at 15:00.

About 141 vehicles are at EMPD pounds. The EMPD confiscated several cars involved in accidents, those violating the National Road Traffic Act 93 of 1996 or breaching the city’s by-laws.

Owners must bring the following when collecting their impounded vehicle: vehicle registration certificate, proof of ownership, identity document and pound fees.

If an owner cannot afford the pound fees, they must request a fee reduction from the CoE chief of police.

The city will dispose of cars not claimed by the deadline specified above.

The pounds are open Monday to Friday from 08:00 to 15:00.
