Alberton family of 3 wins big at Miss Tourism 2025
After making history at Miss Tourism 2025, this mother-daughter trio plans to use their titles to give back to the community and inspire others.
A mother and two daughters made history at the Miss Tourism 2025 competition, each earning prestigious titles.
Lizelle Flemming (47) claimed Mrs Tourism Classic South Africa 2025, her daughter Chanél Herrman (22) won Miss Tourism South Africa 2025, and the youngest, Chloé Oosthuizen (15), secured the title of Teen Miss Tourism South Africa 2025.
Together, this dynamic trio made history with their shared triumphs.
Flemming shared her inspiration for entering the competition.
“I’ve been supporting my girls all my life through modelling and other activities, so the coach of the modelling school forced the mothers to enter the competition just for fun,” Lizelle explained with a smile.
About six mothers participated in the competition, with Flemming entering the Mrs Tourism Classic South Africa category for women aged 40 and above.
“I enjoyed myself. It was fun. We had a blast. Being announced as the winner is something I never thought would happen,” Flemming said, reflecting on the experience.
Despite being her first time walking on stage, Flemming conquered her nerves and the competition. She also praised the support from the other mothers involved in the pageant.
“The support we gave each other was amazing. We were all in this together, cheering each other on,” she said.
The family’s victory is not just about the titles; it is about using their newfound platform for a good cause.
“Charity is a big thing for us, even before these titles. We have done a lot of charity work, and now, with these titles, we hope to make a bigger difference in the community,” said Flemming, speaking on behalf of her family.
Herrman’s journey into modelling began at six when she participated in a school pageant.
“After the competition, a lady came to me and my grandmother and said I had a lot of potential. She invited me to join her modelling school,” Herrman recalled.
Since then, Herrman has collected 60 to 70 titles in her name.
Her recent title, Miss Tourism South Africa 2025, holds a special place in her heart.
“Entering the competition alongside my mom was an amazing experience. My sister and I have been modelling side by side for about two to three years, always supporting each other both on and off the stage. This time, having our mom in the competition was a life-changing experience,” Herrman shared.
For Oosthuizen, entering the pageant was about gaining confidence.
“My first experience with modelling was when my sister, Chanél, forced me to enter Miss Junior South Africa. I did not know anything about modelling, because I always focused on gymnastics,” Oosthuizen confessed.
“Entering the competition with my mom was wonderful. I cannot do anything without her. I have always been a first or second princess, but winning a title this time makes me feel so proud of myself.”
Herrman reflected on one of the most valuable lessons she learnt throughout her modelling career. “Never underestimate myself or anyone else.”
Flemming also shared her excitement about what’s next.
“I started at a modelling school and plan to enter more competitions,” she said, eager to continue her journey.
The family’s dedication to charity is evident through their initiatives.
One of their biggest projects has been Dignity Dreams, where they provided reusable sanitary pad packs to girls who cannot afford to buy them.
To raise funds for the initiative, they organised a Valentine’s dinner.
Through their efforts, the family successfully distributed 70 packs of sanitary pads to girls in the Springs area.
The family thanked their modelling school, SA All Star Models Alberton for the guidance, training and encouragement that helped them achieve this success.
