Alberton Primary has appointed a new principal.

Denasha Jacob has acted in the position since last February, and her permanent appointment starts on April 1.

Jacob brings a wealth of experience spanning more than 20 years in the education sector. She completed her schooling at Buffelscale Secondary in 1993 and graduated from the University of Natal in 1998.

She began her career at Sierra Nevada Primary School in 2001, where she worked for 15 years.

She became HOD at Alberton Primary School in 2016, spearheaded fundraisers as deputy principal from 2021 and was active in the School Governing Body (SGB). She also served as a co-ordinator of the school assessment team, while continuing with her duties as deputy principal.

She was at the forefront of numerous successful projects during her tenure as acting principal in the school’s centenary year, including the time capsule and tree-planting initiatives, the school concert, Carnival Day and the recent Movie Night, all of which strengthened the school’s spirit and community engagement.

“Under her guidance, Alberton Primary School enters an era of growth, excellence, and success. Mrs Jacob brings a wealth of experience to the role and a commitment to fostering a nurturing and dynamic learning environment. Her vision for the school aligns perfectly with its motto of teamwork, perseverance and striving for greatness in academics and character,” Alberton Primary said in a statement.

Jacob’s appointment coincides with several permanent principal appointments in many other Alberton schools.
The school community congratulates Mrs Jacob on her well-deserved appointment and looks forward to seeing her vision come to life.

“The future of Alberton Primary School is bright with her at the helm,” the statement concluded.
