Emergency landing sees light aircraft crash into Hoërskool Alberton tuckshop

The instructor and student escaped uninjured after the light aircraft crashed into the school tuckshop.

A light aircraft made an emergency landing on the rugby field at Hoërskool Alberton, crashing into the school’s tuckshop on Sunday.

According to Tikkie Macdonald, media liaison officer for the City of Ekurhuleni Emergency Services, the incident occurred at approximately 11:37.

“Firefighters were immediately dispatched to the scene. Authorities confirmed that the instructor and student, who were conducting a final evaluation flight for a private pilot licence, experienced engine failure, forcing the emergency landing,” Macdonald said.

Macdonald added that, fortunately, both escaped unharmed. The incident has been reported to the Civil Aviation Authorities and is currently under investigation.
