WATCH: Brackendowns CPF among top winners at the 2025 SAPS District Excellence Awards

The awards ceremony was held at the Alberton Civic Centre on October 31, where SAPS members, EMPD, and other crime-fighters gathered to celebrate their exemplary service to the nation.

It was a night of glitz and glamour at the Alberton Civic Centre on the evening of October 31, where senior SAPS members, EMPD officers, and other crime-fighters gathered to celebrate their exemplary service to the nation.

The office of the Ekurhuleni District Commissioner, Anna Sithole, held an incredible awards ceremony to honour crime-fighters from all over the City of Ekurhuleni.

Award recipients included law enforcement officers from the SAPS, administrative staff members, investigators, forensic officers, community policing forum members, and other anti-crime fighters dedicated to ensuring that Ekurhuleni remains safe.

Among the top winners were Brackendowns CPF, who were declared the best in Ekurhuleni, receiving the CPF of the Year award. SAPS’ Ekurhuleni District Commissioner Anna Sithole took to the stage to award Brackendowns CPF’s Geoff Steyn, alongside CPS Security’s Tyrone van der Merwe.

“The awards ceremony was aimed at motivating and keeping SAPS members focused and energised. Awards were given to SAPS members and stakeholders in various categories for their outstanding performance within different components,” said Ekurhuleni SAPS in a statement.

Detective and forensic team of the year – Major General A Sithole and her District Detectives Team.

FCS team of the year – Lieutenant Colonel AHC Veldman and her Benoni FCS team.

Senior operational manager of the year level 13 -15 – Brigadier LB Machakela.

Station of the year – Colonel LS Maluleka (Elsburg).

Woman of the year – Warrant Officer M Makoetja.

Man of the year – Sergeant L Mudzuli.

Best warden of the year – PI JP Nkosi.
