EMPD urges impounded vehicle owners to collect them, or risk having them auctioned

The vehicles, some of which are kept at the Alberton Pound, could be sold as soon as each of them reaches the 120 day mark in EMPD possession.

The EMPD is urging vehicle owners to collect their impounded vehicles or risk having them sold at auction. Some of these vehicles are kept at the Alberton Pound.

“Vehicles were impounded for various offences, and to claim them, owners must present proof of ownership and settle all impoundment, towing, storage and administrative fees. If unclaimed after 120 days, vehicles may be sold to recover municipal costs, as per the National Road Traffic Regulations,” the EMPD said in a statement.

Owners are urged to collect their vehicles between December 8 and January 27, 2026.

Collection points:

• Alberton: Sanlam Centre, Swartkoppies Road, Alberton.

• Boksburg: 43 Reservoir Road.

• Brakpan: 212 Short Street.

• Kempton Park: 1 Sarel and Albatross Street.
