WATCH: Fed up with potholes, Mayberry Park community steps up
Frustrated by delays, locals pool resources to fix damaged roads and inspire community action.
The Mayberry Park community is buzzing with community spirit as residents tackle the scourge of potholes on the area’s roads. The pothole-fixing initiative is being done by React24 Security.
Frustrated with the lack of action from authorities, locals started filling the potholes with tar, using their own money and resources.
“It’s not ideal, but it’s better than waiting for someone else to fix it,” said a resident, who wished to remain anonymous.
“We’re not just complaining about the problem; we are the solution,” he continued.

The initiative has sparked a sense of camaraderie among residents, who are working together to make their neighbourhood a better place.
“We are doing this work to inspire other residents to get more people involved. We need more contributions so we can fix more potholes,” said Garfield Venter.

“I thank Alberton Steel for their contributions and all the residents who help us. The community appreciates your contribution, time, and effort,” he continued.
The community’s efforts have not gone unnoticed, with many praising their proactive approach on social media, hoping that their efforts inspire others to take action and show that community spirit can make a difference.
