WATCH: SPARK Alberton kicks off the 2026 academic year

Hundreds of excited learners and parents gathered at Spark Alberton for a memorable first day of school at 45 Newquay Road, in Alberton.

SPARK Alberton reopened recently, welcoming learners for the 2026 academic year.

“The 2026 academic year for SPARK Schools began on January 21, and teachers, scholars and parents at SPARK Alberton, both returning and new, are ready to make SPARKS fly.

The SPARK Schools education model ensures that every child develops a love of learning and makes great academic progress,” said the school in a statement.

Hundreds of excited learners and parents gathered at SPARK Alberton for a memorable first day of school. Parents watched, took pictures and videos of their little ones as they gathered at the assembly area, preparing to be ushered into their respective classrooms.

There were tears of joy for some parents, while others held their hands together as a sign of pride and delight.

Commenting on the first day of school, SPARK Alberton principal, Mrs T Douman said: “I want to thank all our parents for a successful morning with drop-offs, as well as Sparks Fly. Our scholars really enjoyed Sparks Fly, especially our new kiddies. My wish for this year is for our scholars to continue learning and to become lovers of education.”
