McAusland Boxing celebrates new talent

McAusland Boxing is happy to announce that its newest member will make a pro debut on April 27.

Leeann Jansen Van Vuuren (21) will fight in the junior flyweight division tournament.

“I’m super excited and nervous, but it might be more excitement than nerves until closer to the fight,” said Leeann.

This aspiring boxer turned professional in March and recently joined the pro ranks with McAusland Boxing.
Leeann fell in love with boxing in 2016 and never looked back.

“I graded as an amateur boxer in 2017 but lost focus and went off track. I did white-collar boxing in the last two years. I had six fights here and there, and they were usually draws,” she said.

Leeann trains with the current South African champion, Simangele Smash Hadebe.

Simangele won an award for female boxer of the year in 2023, and Donjuan van Heerden won the male prospect in the same year.
