Alberton’s boxing brawler emerges victorious

Sheldon “IG Brawler” Stols is a 13-year-old boxer from Alberton and is giving his opponents beat downs.

Sheldon ‘IG Brawler’ Stols is a 13-year-old boxer from Alberton and a Grade Seven Laerskool Randhart learner who dreams of becoming a boxing world champion in the future.

Just recently, Sheldon was declared the winner of the Gauteng Novice Champions in the 34-36 kg (school age 13-year-old) division. He has also made television sports appearances to talk about his journey as a boxer.

Sheldon lists Kaine Fourie, Phumelele Cafu, Gervonta ‘Tank’ Davis and Mike ‘Iron’ Tyson as his all-time favourite boxers.

Sheldon’s training includes running around Alberton neighbourhoods, covering stretches of 5km and sparring. He also regularly trains with other fighters.

His boxing strength is mostly attributed to his coach, Nicky Ness, whom he has previously described as “tough”.

When he is not in the ring sparring, Sheldon enjoys playing rugby or angling while sitting next to a river bank.
